Leisure Time!♥

Well, today we are going to talk about our free time, and it's difficult to choose only one activity, because the leisure time is very important and I think we can do many things in that time. Something I love to do is ride my bicycle in the city, listening to music and singing by the streets, especially at night, but it's difficult in this time, because in autumn and winter the temperature is very low, it doesn't help the physical activity. In the summer I ride my bicycle more or less 1 hour every night, but in this station of the year I ride bike only one or two times in the month. If I make a percent, riding bike it must be something like 20 percent. This is a very good activity because is a good way to do sport and be healthy. I’m not a very sportsman person, rather sedentary, and the bicycle makes me feel better.

Another thing I like to do it's play videogames, particularly Pro Evolution Soccer 2011, in the Xbox 360 of my brother in law, but it's something I don't do so much because the game is in my girlfriend's house, and when I go there we do another things the most part of the time. Let's say playing videogames is another 20 percent.

Ok, now I must say, I’m a big fan of “Universidad de Chile”, the football team, and sometimes I like to go to the stadium, but I don’t go to all the matches, because when the football matches are in Santiago, I’m working, the most part of the time. If I add this with the live concerts, another thing I like to do in my leisure time, the result may be another 20 percent.

My Favorite Gadget

My favorite piece of technology is my mp4 reproducer. It's a Philips device called “Gogear opus”. On it I can listen to my favorite music, radio stations and see videos. Their size is similar to a credit card, it's black and it have a leather case, and one of the most important things, it have 32 GB of internal memory, so i can put on it hours and hours of the music than i like.

I like it because i'm listening to music all the time, and with this gadget i don't need to change the mp3 files, I only add the new music I want to listen. Also, I can add the last episodes of the tv series I see, like “The big bang theory” or “Two and a half men”, or the best moments of the football games of my favorite team. Another function I always use is the recorder of voice and radio. When i'm in an important class, I can record the voice of the profesor and later listen the class again. Or maybe if im listening a good song on the radio, a concert  or something important, I can record that too. 

 I have this gadget since january of 2010, and I use it in many places, but with more frequency when im on the bus, and in my job. 

This gadget is important in my daily life, but if I didn’t have it, i would buy a different one, maybe the last edition with touch screen.

Writting about music

I like many types of music; some of them are blues, hard rock and folklore. In my pocket i have 32 gb of bands and singers, starting from 311, passing by Andres Calamaro, Led Zeppelin, Opeth, Nano Stern, Tiro de Gracia and finishing with Zapatillas Social Blues. in total, 154 artists in my mp4 player.

Like i said on the first post, One of the bands than I like the most is La Renga, an argentinian hard-rock band, formed by Gustavo "Chizzo" Napoli on guitar and vocals, Jorge "Tanque" Iglesias on the bass , his brother Gabriel "Tete" Iglesias on the drums and Manuel Varela on saxophone and harmonic.

I like this band for many reasons, some of them are their lyrics (based in topics as daily life, adversities, and in the last songs, the outer space), the music (who includes wind instruments like trompet or saxophone) and their concerts (the public is like football fans).

I went to their concerts in Chile 6 times, all in different places. The first one was in December 18, 2004, in the Victor Jara Stadium. The last one was in march 26, 2011, in the “Gimnasio regional La Tortuga de Talcahuano” in the eight region. Other places where i saw the band are Movistar Arena, Velodromo, Court Central (both them in the Estadio Nacional) and the “Gimnasio Polideportivo Regional” in Viña del Mar. My seventh concert will be in june 4, 2011 in the “Estacion mapocho”.

El Periodista

The website related to journalism than im going to choose is called “El periodista”. It is a Chilean magazine. It is published every two weeks and their web site is http://elperiodistaonline.cl/. The first time i read the magazine was in mi girlfriend's university, we took one of a desk (they are free for the students of the university). The magazine speaks about many topics, and analyzes current news, especially in politics and international, and also in culture, health, technology and sports. The website has many good parts like one called “ultimo minuto” where we can read the latest headlines and provides web links to read about that news. Also we can read the printed version in digital paper, and we can save the $1900 pesos the magazine cost.



I like this website because is a serious way to be informed. I like the columnists of the magazine too, some of there are Elicura Chihuailaf, a Mapuche Poet and writer who gives an important point of view of our Chilean society; Blanca Lewin, a remarkable and beautiful actress, who writes about cinema, politics and other topics. And one of the most important things, i like elperiodistaonline, because is a independent website and i share the political thought of the site, something than it’s difficult to find for me in other Chilean websites, magazines or neswpapers

Movies!

I must say im not a big fan of movies, but im always watching the new premieres because i work in a cinema, and all the weeks i receive 2 free tickets.

One of my favorite, and one of the best movie all times is "The Godfather" originally written by Mario Puzzo, and directed by Francis Ford Coppola. The movie it's about Don Vito Corleone and his family, a powerful family in the mafia world. This character is represented by Marlon Brando, and is remembered by his hoarse voice and his fallen cheeks.

Other important character is Michael Corleone, the minor son of the godfather, and the successor as The Don. Al Pacino do this character in the story.

A classic moment of the story, and also a classic moment of the cinema's history, is the beheaded horse in the bed of  Jack Woltz, a movie producer.


Another moment is when Michael kills the police captain Mark McCluskey and Virgil Sollozzo of the Tattaglia Family, in a restaurant.

This movie was filmed in 1972, but is my favorite. It won 3 Oscars and 5 golden globes. If you haven't seen the movie, please, please do it, you you will not regret it, trust me.

My name is Gonzalo Aguirre, im 22 years old, and I live in La Florida with my father. I also have one brother and two sisters.  My girldfriend’s name is Angélica and I hang out with she the most part of the time. My favorite music band is La Renga. The title of this blog is the traduction of one of their songs.
